The WWE Universe was flipped upside down this past weekend when news broke that WWE Hall Of Famer and Monday Night RAW General Manager Kurt Angle would be returning to the WWE ring for the first time in 11 years at the Tables Ladders and Chairs (TLC) pay-per-view (PPV).

The original main event for the TLC PPV was scheduled to see The Shield (Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose) reunite against the team of The Miz, The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro), Kane, and Braun Strowman. Unfortunately Reigns fell victim to a medical outbreak that has made its way throughout the WWE locker room and was forced off of the card.

Reigns wasn't the only Superstar affected, however, as Bray Wyatt was also forced out of his scheduled bout against "The Demon King" Finn Balor. SmackDown Live's AJ Styles was called upon to step in for Wyatt, and he put on a Match Of The Year candidate with Balor inside the ring.

Angle did relatively well in his return to the ring, nailing nearly everyone with a few German Suplexes, hitting Angle Slams on Sheamus and Cesaro, and locking up a few Angle Locks as well.

The finish of the match saw Angle lead the way in a Triple Powerbomb on The Miz for the pinfall finish. Per a report from PWInsider, the person that recommended Angle step in for the ill Reigns was actually Vince McMahon.

Reigns contracted the mumps and the WWE quickly scrambled to find a replacement for "The Big Dog." Angle was recommended internally on Thursday and then quickly underwent a physical in his hometown of Pittsburgh on Friday due to his history of neck issues.

Angle was then given the green light by doctors, and WWE announced his entry into the match just minutes later. After "The Olympic Hero's" performance this past Sunday at TLC it's likely he'll receive his long awaited singles match soon down the road.

What are your thoughts on Vince McMahon being the man to recommend Angle compete at TLC? Do you think that McMahon now has confidence in Angle's in-ring ability after last night's match?
