Former Newcastle winger Nolberto Solano could make his debut for Leicester against his former club at the Walkers Stadium.

The Foxes are hopeful they will receive international clearance in time for the late kick-off on Saturday. The hold-up has been caused by delays at the Peruvian FA.

Solano, who had two spells at Newcastle between 1998 to 2004 and 2005 to 2007, has been training with Leicester for the last week.

Veteran defender Chris Powell could make his first home appearance of the season for Nigel Pearson's side. The 40-year-old made his first Championship start of the campaign in the defeat at Barnsley on Tuesday night.

Regular left-back Bruno Berner is still out with the calf problem he sustained against Sheffield Wednesday in mid-December while his deputy Ryan McGivern was dropped after struggling with form in recent weeks.

Berner is back in training but it remains to be seen whether the Swiss will be involved following such a long absence.

Newcastle boss Chris Hughton has confirmed that defender Steven Taylor could be out of action for up to two months with a knee injury.

The England Under-21 international will be out for "a matter of weeks" with medial ligament damage, although he does not require surgery.

The news has come as a blow to the Coca-Cola Championship leaders, who head to the Walkers Stadium with selection problems.

Left-back Jose Enrique will miss out for several weeks with the hamstring problem he picked up in Wednesday night's 2-0 victory over Crystal palace, although the damage is not as bad as was first thought.

Danny Simpson (ankle) and Shola Ameobi (shoulder) are both unavailable, but winger Jonas Gutierrez has recovered from a knock to his ankle in midweek.

In addition, midfielder Joey Barton will return to full training next week for the first time since suffering a foot injury back in September, while Fitz Hall could make his debut following a loan move from QPR.

Chelsea starlet Patrick van Aanholt should also be included after the 19-year-old Dutch left-back joined on a month's loan.
