Cardiff manager Dave Jones will have to reshuffle his midfield for the home clash against Doncaster with Joe Ledley starting a lengthy period on the sidelines.

The Wales international on Friday underwent the first of a double hip operation that is likely to keep him out for most of the season, if not all of it.

Fellow midfielder Gavin Rae shrugged off a hamstring injury to start Tuesday's ruthless demolition of Bristol City, although he was substituted just after the hour mark. A late check will be made on his availability.

Cardiff's back five will remain the same after the midweek clean sheet, meaning centre-back Gabor Gyepes will start at the heart of defence with captain Mark Hudson out of the picture.

The South Wales club seem to have fully recovered from the illness that swept through the camp recently. However, Jones is likely to still be without Stephen McPhail as he regains his match fitness while Josh Magennis continues his recovery from a broken fibula.

Jones has called for solidarity at the Cardiff City Stadium this weekend after a mixed week that started with the 6-0 romp over their Severnside derby rivals but has soon turned sour as the club's off-field struggles continue to dominate the headlines.

Doncaster are expected to be without loanee Jason Shackell after he missed the midweek defeat to Middlesbrough and is scheduled to have surgery to resolve a groin problem next week.

Shiels also sat it out on Tuesday night as he has been struggling with an ankle problem but manager Sean O'Driscoll will have skipper Brian Stock, John Oster and James Hayter back in his squad.

Stock (twisted ankle), Oster (hamstring) and Hayter (ill) were all unavailable against Middlesbrough.

Long-term absentee Sean McDaid returned from his 18-month injury lay-off when stepping off the substitutes' bench for the last eight minutes in midweek and is hoping to play a bigger role.

Midfielder Martin Woods (groin) is expected to return in 10 days after having an injection.
