Nobody could have predicted that West Ham would be in today’s draw for the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup when, 40 minutes into their match at Tottenham Hotspur, they were 2-0 down. This is a West Ham side that has shown very little quality all season. They’re languishing in 16th place in the Premier League and Slaven Bilic is fighting for his job.So when Spurs raced into a 2-0 lead through goals from Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli, many were ready to switch off.But what transpired in the second half was something that Bilic will hope will serve as a springboard for his team to recover from their poor start to the season.West Ham turned the game around. They scored three times in the second half without conceding to make it a night to remember for the club and their supporters.Andre Ayew scored twice in five minutes before Angelo Ogbonna headed the Hammers into the lead with 20 minutes remaining.Mauricio Pochettino’s side had no answer for their London rivals, suffering their first defeat in any competition in more than two months.

What Bilic said at HT

After the game, Bilic said he saw signs in the first half that kept him upbeat.

“The result was bad, 2-0 for them, but we played good football,” the Croatian said, per the Metro. “OK we didn’t penetrate enough but we passed the ball well.

“We said a few things about what we should do better when they have the ball and what we should do better when we have the ball and the guys executed that in the most brilliant way.”

Redknapp provided some entertainment before KO

The five-goal thriller was good but the most entertaining moment came before it even kicked off.

OK, so that’s an exaggeration. But Jamie Redknapp produced a moment that everyone watching on Sky Sports enjoyed.

The former Liverpool midfielder was on punditry duty when he sent host Simon Thomas for a taxi with a cheeky bit of skill.

Back to Blue Peter you go, Simon. Here’s how fans reacted on social media.

Clearly, Redknapp’s still got it.
