Howe hails battling Cherries

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe hailed his side's performance after they ended their three-game winless streak with victory at Crewe.

Steve Fletcher and Anton Robinson netted for the Cherries before substitute Luke Murphy gave Crewe hope with a second-half strike, but the visitors held on.

Howe said: "We threw bodies in front of everything and looked dangerous on the break. We needed a response after some bad results and I got it. We showed real character to come to a place like this and get a result under pressure."

Howe also reserved praise for Fletcher, adding: "It was good to see him get back on the scoresheet and we will have renewed confidence after this result.

"We have a strong squad but it is a small squad. Injuries will decide if we are still in contention at the end of the season."
