Defoe sends Spurs through

Published Add your comment

Jermain Defoe scored a hat-trick to end Leeds' FA Cup run and send Tottenham into a fifth-round clash at Bolton following a 3-1 win.

Just like in the first game at White Hart Lane the Barclays Premier League side were made to work, with Luciano Becchio striking in first-half stoppage-time to cancel out Defoe's opener to the delight of a packed Elland Road.

The England man could have had a sackful even by then, but he duly grabbed a second in the 73rd minute from David Bentley's cross before completing his hat-trick at the end.
