WWE Survivor Series is only a matter of weeks away and the card has already filled out nicely. This is the only pay-per-view of the year where the WWE directly pits Monday Night Raw against SmackDown Live and has their champions collide.Already confirmed for the event is Intercontinental champion The Miz facing off with United States champion Baron Corbin, SD Live Women's champion Natalya taking on Raw Women's champion Alexa Bliss, SD Live tag team champions The Usos taking on Raw tag team champions The Shield and, of course, Universal champion Brock Lesnar squaring off against WWE champion Jinder Mahal. There is also set two traditional Survivor Series match-ups, one male and one female, with the men's match set to be led by Raw general manager Kurt Angle on one side and SD Live commissioner Shane McMahon on the other. There's been a lot of buzz about Lesnar's collision with Mahal, especially considering many of the WWE Universe are still not sold on the Modern Day Maharaja as a credible world title talent. In any other circumstance, Lesnar would run straight through the former 3MB member, so what can the WWE do to make this match a bit more interesting? There has been speculation online for a few weeks now that the company are reaching out to different talent with the view of having a special guest referee officiate the match.Original rumours suggested The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and John Cena were in the running for the role and after the poster for the event was leaked online, it seems as though the 16-time world champion has gotten the nod.

It has been speculated that this will kick-off a programme between Cena and Mahal that may culminate with Cena winning his record-breaking 17th world title at WrestleMania.

Whether the fans could stomach Mahal holding the title for that long is one question, whether fans want to see Mahal in a prominent 'Mania match is another.

Of course, they could have the title match at the Royal Rumble in January, that way Cena would have plenty of time to line up a bigger WrestleMania showdown.
