For the past several months former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler has been rumored to be considering leaving the WWE once his contract is up.

"The Showoff" has been with the WWE since 2004 when he was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), WWE's then-developmental program. He later made his debut on the main roster in 2005 as a member of the Spirit Squad, who had a notable feud with Triple H and Shawn Michaels when they reunited as D-Generation X.

In 2008 he was repackaged as Dolph Ziggler and began his singles run. As a singles star Ziggler won several titles that included two World Heavyweight Title wins, a United States Title run, five Intercontinental Championship wins, and a Money In The Bank Ladder Match win.

During his time with The Spirit Squad Ziggler also won the WWE Tag Team Titles as well. In his past several years with the company Ziggler hasn't really been used to his full potential. He's an excellent promo and has proven to be one of the more exciting workers inside the ring, however, he hasn't received a big push.

Instead Ziggler has been jobbing to the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode, putting over young up-and-coming talent from NXT. His current gimmick has him mocking past and present WWE Superstar's gimmicks in order to shame the WWE Universe for liking such laughable material.

Because of the way WWE has been underutilizing Ziggler as of late, it's widely believed that he could be seriously considering not re-signing with WWE and opting to instead try heading over to New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW).

Per a report from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, Ziggler's contract with WWE is up come October of 2018. He also stated that he doesn't believe Ziggler will leave the company because his is in his "comfort zone" there and is making good money.

Meltzer also noted that two years ago Ziggler was still being used poorly, but still decided to re-sign with WWE on a three year deal.

What are your thoughts on Ziggler most likely staying in WWE since he is comfortable there and is making decent money? Do you think there's any possibility that he could go to a different promotion? Or will the former World Heavyweight Champion remain under the WWE's promotional banner for the years to come? Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
