Jones claims Blacks Cats point

Published Add your comment

Kenwyne Jones' seventh goal of the season spared Sunderland boss Steve Bruce further misery as former club Wigan were denied victory following the 1-1 draw on Wearside.

The Trinidad and Tobago international headed home a 64th-minute equaliser as the Black Cats staged a second-half fightback after a woeful opening 45 minutes.

Mohamed Diame had given the visitors a deserved 20th-minute lead and Craig Gordon had to make a fine 58th-minute save to prevent James McCarthy from making it 2-0.
