Bowditch inspires Glovers rout: Match Review

Published Add your comment

Yeovil striker Dean Bowditch scored a brace as the Glovers cruised to their first away win in nine games with a 4-1 success at lowly Wycombe.

Bowditch's opener was cancelled by Matt Harrold shortly after the break, but three goals in 13 minutes from Andy Welsh, Owain Tudur Jones and Bowditch sealed the rout.

Harrold headed Josh Payne's cross just wide for Wycombe before Bowditch put Yeovil ahead on the quarter of an hour mark when he curled Welsh's cut-back into the top corner.

Welsh should have doubled the Glovers' lead but the sliding winger somehow poked Bowditch's pin-point cross over the bar from five yards.

Harrold equalised for Wycombe five minutes after the break with a towering close-range header from Dean Keates' free-kick.

But Welsh restored Yeovil's lead just two minutes later when he tapped the ball into the empty net after keeper Scott Shearer could only parry Bowditch's shot.

Shearer then allowed Tudur Jones' weak 25-yard free-kick to creep into the corner of the net as the Glovers went 3-1 up on the hour mark.

Bowditch completed his brace five minutes later when he turned Wanderers substitute Luke Oliver inside-out before poking the ball in off the post for his sixth goal of the season.
