Shrewsbury renewed their promotion push with a smash-and-grab 1-0 victory at luckless Macclesfield.
The visitors were put under pressure for most of the game, but secured victory through Steve Leslie's 54th-minute strike.
Former Liverpool trainee Craig Lindfield had two early chances for Macclesfield, placing a scissor kick into the arms of David Button before firing a snap shot inches wide from 10 yards.
The Silkmen went close again in the 33rd minute but Junior Daniel slid his shot wide after being played through by Ricky Sappleton.
Leslie put the Shrews ahead after the break with a neat chip into the far corner and they should have added another in the 65th minute when Dave Hibbert planted a volley wide.
John Rooney stung the hands of visiting goalkeeper Button with 18 minutes remaining before Macclesfield wasted their best chance to equalise when Daniel blasted over the bar in the closing stages.
