It was yet another historic night for Barcelona's Lionel Messi as he made his 600th appearance for the club against Sevilla.

Only Xavi Hernandez (767) and Andres Iniesta (642, and counting) have recorded more for the Blaugrana as the Argentine adds yet another chapter to his historic legacy in Catalonia.

At the Nou Camp in the pouring rain, Barca were lucky to emerge victorious against Sevilla, winning 2-1 to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Amazingly, Messi didn't find himself on the scoresheet, with Paco Alcacer scoring both goals to seal a priceless three points for Ernesto Valverde.

Guido Pizarro had actually made it 1-1 halfway through the second period, but Alcacer was on hand shortly after the equaliser.

MESSI NOT AT HIS BEST

It was an odd night for the mercurial superstar, as Messi fell slightly below his normal lofty standards.

Not scoring on his 600th appearance was, of course, a blow to his own personal ambitions, but he did show more than a few moments of his sheer brilliance.

It was one moment in the first half which had supporters drooling, with Messi entering that 'FIFA player mode' where his quality almost defies reality.

Just watch below and enjoy the GOAT toying with a top-class defence on his own for 30 seconds.

VIDEO: MESSI DOES IT ON HIS OWN

That short passage of play had more in it that some players have for their entire 90-minute highlight reel.

The way he pulls players out of position, dribbles past them, holds them off and then finds a killer pass just typifies his prowess on the pitch.

One other player who flaunted his skill set on the pitch was Sergio Busquets, as the Spanish midfielder completely embarrassed Sevilla's Pizarro in the latter stages of the game.

Not bad, eh?

After the international break, Barca embark on a very tough trio of fixtures which will certainly put their unbeaten status to the test.

The Blaugrana travel to surprise package Leganes first, before a trip to Juventus in the Champions League shortly after.

To complete a tough week, Valverde's side have to welcome high-flying Valencia to the Nou Camp, with Los Che looking like they may be Barca's main rivals for the La Liga title.
