Chesterfield will be without Aaron Downes when promotion rivals Bury visit Saltergate.

The centre-half, who has only recently returned from an eight-month absence with ligament damage, was forced off during the midweek win at Port Vale after suffering another injury to the same knee. It is not yet known how long Downes will be out this time.

Carlisle striker Gary Madine will go straight into the squad after arriving on a month`s loan. He has been brought in as cover for leading scorer Jack Lester, who is set to be out for up to six weeks after undergoing knee surgery.

Peterborough winger Dominic Green has extended his loan by a further month - it was set to expire on Friday - and remains available.

Phil Picken will be out for up to three weeks after the defender suffered a knee ligament strain in training.

Bury defender David Buchanan has been ruled out for a fortnight with a ligament strain and striker Danny Carlton remains sidelined with a long-term Achilles injury.

Carlton is expected to be back in full training at the end of this month but fellow frontman Tom Elliott, back on loan from Leeds, should start on the bench at Saltergate.

Talismanic striker Andy Bishop is easing his way back towards full fitness and came off the bench to score the winner against Macclesfield in midweek.

Shakers boss Alan Knill said: "It is great to have Bish back but he just needs more games now."

In-form Bury have won seven and drawn one of their last eight matches.
