Boxing fans should very excited about what’s in store for 2018.
Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin are expected to duel once again, their first meeting in September ending in a hugely controversial draw.
And the heavyweight division is set to be shaken up, with Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker all ready to put their belts on the line.
Joshua, the WBA (Super), IBF and IBO champion, is the one fighter everyone wants a piece of.
But WBC champion Wilder has spent the past week calling Joshua out, as has Parker, who currently holds the WBO belt.
Tyson Fury is coming back
But many boxing fans believe the one man who can truly challenge Joshua is Tyson Fury.
The Gypsy King, who is currently locked in a battle with the British Boxing Board of Control and UK Anti-Doping over his license, has vowed to return next year following a lengthy hiatus from the sport.
And Fury said he would “deal with” Joshua in an open letter to his last opponent, Wladimir Klitschko.
“I'm going to deal with your little brother AJ in the same fashion as I dealt with you, play with the bit*h,” Fury wrote on Twitter on Saturday. “Kind regards the champ.”
What a thrilling year we have in store.
Frank Bruno offers his thoughts on Joshua v Fury
Former world heavyweight champion Frank Bruno is among those who wants to see Joshua versus Fury happen and, like many boxing fans, he believes a fully fit Fury can cause AJ problems.
“I think everyone, myself included, would love to see Anthony Joshua against Tyson Fury,” Bruno said, per the Mirror. “It would be the biggest fight for many, many years in this country.
“But it is important Tyson is ready for it. It has been reported he is back in training and that is great to hear.
"Tyson has had some troubles in the past but everyone just wants to see him get better and back to his very best.
"A fully fit Tyson Fury would give Anthony all-sorts of problems.”
Many fans agree with Bruno
That idea is felt by many boxing fans, as these tweets show.
Joshua is 20-0, Fury is 25-0. What a great fight it would be.
