American boxer Shannon Briggs is free to box again today after serving out his ban following a failed drugs test.

Whilst speaking exclusively to Sky Sports News, the 45-year-old from Brooklyn named the fighter he wants to get back in the ring with.

"My target is Tyson Fury. He's a chump, he's a punk," Briggs said.

According to the 45-year-old, the ‘Gypsy King' has been mouthing off at the big American on Twitter – something that has not gone down well with Briggs – though the Brooklyn born fighter has attributed Tyson Fury’s comments as symptomatic of the fear of getting in the ring with him.

"He shot some words at me on Twitter, but he's scared of me.

"It's a tough road back for him and I'm a fight that he doesn't want.

"This is the biggest fight for both of us, besides him getting a massive title fight.

“If he needs a tune-up for a title fight, why not fight a 45,000-year-old man?

"I like Fury but I want to knock him out. Once I knock out 'the whale' - that's what I call Fury - I bet that Wladimir Klitschko will come back [to fight me]."

Bold words there from Briggs – but in truth, both Fury and Briggs have been have been mouthing off at each other for the last couple of months.

It was reported in World Boxing News that Fury was willing to apply for a foreign boxing license to get back into the ring.

Funnily enough – he never did.

However, Fury is likely to return to the sport he loves next year, with a video being released yesterday of him back in the ring sparring with his coach.

Although he still doesn't look the part, there is no doubting his natural ability inside a ring, however, his eyes are probably not on Briggs, they are on a certain Anthony Joshua.
