You’d think that Kelechi Iheanacho and Nicolas Otamendi would be glad to each other again when Argentina took on Nigeria in an international friendly on Tuesday afternoon.Iheanacho spent two seasons in City’s first-team, playing 64 times and scoring 21 goals before making a permanent move to Leicester City in the summer. During the two years he was in the first-team at the Etihad Stadium, Otamendi was marshaling City’s backline.A warm handshake and a hug is what you’d probably expect to see between the two in Krasnodar. However, things didn’t quite go to plan.Iheanacho certainly didn’t help matters by landing an elbow on Otamendi’s as the two challenged for the ball. While it was accidental, it caught the Argentine right in the face and the striker picked up a yellow card as a result. But if you thought Otamendi would forgive him because he was a former teammate, you’d be wrong - very wrong. The defender got up and confronted Iheanacho. The 21-year-old probably thought he would make a little joke about it but he gave him an almighty shove to the chest. The Leicester forward laughed it off but Otamendi was clearly unimpressed.

And this is how Twitter reacted to two former teammates going at it during a friendly match:

Iheanacho soon did his talking with his feet, though, as he scored a delightful free-kick. His Nigerian side were 2-0 down when the youngster pulled a goal back beautifully.

While Otamendi is enjoying a very good start to the season with City, Iheanacho is struggling for regular minutes following his £25m move to the Foxes. He’s played just five times in the league at the King Power Stadium and has scored just once in all competitions.

At least he’s not afraid to put himself about.

Incidentally, Otamendi and Iheanacho could come face-to-face once again this weekend as City travel to Leicester in the Premier League.
