Despite spending £80 million in the summer, Liverpool fans were adamant that the club needed to spend more in order to challenge for the title this season. That is already looking the case with Jurgen Klopp’s side 12 points behind Manchester City, having conceded 17 goals in their 11 league matches.Their failure to sign a central defender is already looking extremely costly. While Klopp was blamed for his failure to land Virgil van Dijk - or any other centre-back for that matter - the owners were also criticised for not allowing the German more funds.FSG have come under fire in recent years with barely spending more than they recoup in transfer sales. Another reason Liverpool fans feel a little upset with their American owners is the fact that they very rarely attend matches.Do they even know what’s going on at Anfield? That’s why it was incredibly surprising to see John W Henry at the England vs Brazil friendly at Wembley.Liverpool’s owner was pictured on the London Underground travelling to the match and it left supporters scratching their heads. However, the fans soon came up with a conclusion. With Philippe Coutinho representing Brazil, they believe that the club owner was meeting up with the players’ representatives and delegates from Barcelona to discuss a possible transfer.

Liverpool fans react

Check out the reaction on social media:

Of course, Barca tried desperately hard to sign Coutinho this summer but, despite the player handing in a transfer request, the club refused to budge.

They even released an official statement which read: “We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho.

“The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.”

But maybe the owners have now released they can’t deny Coutinho his dream move to the Camp Nou for much longer and are now willing to negotiate.
