Anthony Griffith will miss Port Vale's home clash against Barnet due to suspension.

The central midfielder was shown his 10th yellow card of the season in last Saturday's 2-1 win at Torquay and will now serve a two-match ban, with Doug Loft the most likely candidate to step in.

But Dave Howland (knee) and Louis Dodds (thigh) are slight doubts after sustaining knocks during Wednesday's reserve team defeat at West Brom.

Gareth Owen is pushing for a recall after shaking off the hamstring injury that kept him out against Torquay but he will face stiff competition from John McCombe to gain a place in the starting line-up.

When the two sides met back in November, Vale claimed a goalless draw at Underhill.

Barnet will again be without midfielder Mark Hughes.

Hughes is serving the second of a two-game suspension after picking up 10 yellow cards this season so David Livermore will continue in central midfield alongside Micah Hyde.

Centre-back Clovis Kamdjo returned to the bench for the Cheltenham match last weekend after three months out with a knee injury while manager Ian Hendon should also have Ismail Yakubu back.

Yakubu has missed the last four games after suffering a back spasm but he is hopeful of being fit to return.

Veteran striker Paul Furlong is hoping for a recall after three games out of the starting XI as the 41-year-old looks for a first goal since September.
