It’s always difficult to predict how teams will perform in the first game after an international break. But Chelsea, following their 1-0 victory over Manchester United two weeks ago, came out the traps flying at the Hawthorns this afternoon and were 3-0 up before half-time thanks to goals from Alvaro Morata, Eden Hazard and Marcos Alonso.Tony Pulis’s side were effectively beaten by the break and the home supporters wouldn’t have complained if referee Jon Moss had blown for full-time there and then.Hazard’s goal was undoubtedly the pick of the bunch.Cesc Fabregas brought the ball out from the back and fired the ball into the feet of Morata, whose exquisite touch rolled perfectly into Hazard’s path.

Chelsea will climb above Tottenham and Manchester United into second place following their win over the Baggies.

Manchester City, however, are likely to remain nine points clear of Antonio Conte’s side after taking a 2-0 lead against Leicester City courtesy of goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne.
