Along with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, Isco was at the heart of most of Real's attacking moves against Atleti, and it's been a quite wonderful 2017 for the silky Spaniard.

However, in a very uncharacteristic act, the 25-year-old lost his cool during the derby and shouted something at the referee which could have got him in serious trouble.

Why was Isco so angry?

Isco is known for being one of the calmest players around, and his ability to take the ball under pressure in the middle of the park is almost unrivalled.

However, the playmaker was furious at referee David Fernandez Borbalan after a series of decisions went against Zinedine Zidane's side against Atletico.

What Isco deemed to be repeated fouls on him were simply ignored by the officials, including a collision where Atletico captain Gabi seemed to kick the Los Blancos man.

Isco's outburst at ref

The incident that led to Isco's outburst was when appeared to control a pass with his shoulder, only for the referee to penalise him for a handball.

As you can see in the video below, the ex-Malaga star wasn't too happy at the decision, as he pointed towards his shoulder and claimed that Borbalan had made the wrong call.

However, it was too late by then, and Marca have revealed that Isco screamed “Eres muy malo” at Borbalan, which translates into English as “You are very bad”.

As mentioned above, what Isco said could have got him a caution for dissent, to add to what was an overall frustrating night for the reigning Spanish and European champions.

Next up for Real is a trip to APOEL in the Champions League before welcoming Isco's former club Malaga to the Bernabeu next weekend.
