Philippe Coutinho was involved in a huge transfer saga over the summer as Barcelona saw multiple bids in excess of £100 million rejected by Liverpool.

The 25-year-old handed in a transfer request, however he's put that behind him and produced some excellent performances for Jurgen Klopp's team this season.

Coutinho has provided five goals and four assists in ten matches for Liverpool so far this term in addition to establishing himself in Brazil's starting XI.

It is believed that the attacking midfielder remains a transfer priority for Barca, but another club trying to secure a blockbuster deal for him is Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG hope their skipper Thiago Silva can lure Coutinho into swapping Merseyside for the French capital, and his latest comments definitely won't please Liverpool supporters.

Silva urges Coutinho to join Paris

Silva captains Coutinho in the Brazil national team and Telefoot have reported that he's urged his international teammate to leave Liverpool in the summer and join Paris.

"I talk a lot with Coutinho," the 33-year-old is quoted as saying, via The Mirror. "I hope that at the end of the season, or even before (ie. January, Coutinho can join PSG).

"It could be a nice surprise for us. I hope he will think well and that next year he will work with us. As with Neymar, I give him (Coutinho) a lot of advice."

Silva, who has marshalled a PSG team on absolute fire this season, added: "But I think the most important thing for him is to make the best decision."

Coutinho reportedly has his heart set on a move to Barca someday, but the sheer number of Brazilians at PSG, from Dani Alves to good friend Neymar, could sway his decision.

That said, with Julian Draxler, Lucas, Angel di Maria, Javier Pastore and more in Unai Emery's squad, Paris must surely offload some stars before they can even think about signing Coutinho.

As for Liverpool, they need the gifted playmaker at his best ahead of tough games against Sevilla in the Champions League, and then Premier League champions Chelsea.
