Batista on why he feels a disconnect with the WWE Universe

Batista is no longer a member of the WWE's roster, and a big reason for that is because of his disconnect with the new generation of the WWE Universe.

"The Animal" is one of the most successful WWE Superstars of all time as he has won six WWE World Titles, a four-time WWE Tag Team Champion, and a two-time Royal Rumble winner (2005 and 2014). He has not been with the company since late 2014 after quitting due to creative differences with the company.

He now has begun a rather successful career in Hollywood, getting his big break in the role of Drax The Destroyer in Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy franchise. Just because he isn't in the world of professional wrestling anymore, however, doesn't mean he has forgotten his roots.

Batista was recently a guest on WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross' podcast to discus his career inside the squared circle.

During the interview, Batista explained why he couldn't get into the mind of today's WWE fans and failed to understand why they continuously chanted for CM Punk after he seemingly abandoned them (quotes via Wrestling Inc.):

"But that's what it was like the whole run. The fans, it just changed so much and I didn't know where the fans were at.

"It was just a weird atmosphere and a lot of 'CM Punk' chants after he walked out, which I don't understand and I love CM Punk, man.

"As a person, Phil Brooks, I love him. I love that guy. We've always gotten along. I've got a lot of respect for him, but I didn't necessarily like the way he left the company and I thought, 'the fans are cheering him like they're martyring him, and he really just walked out on them.' I didn't love that."

What are your thoughts on Batista's comments regarding the WWE Universe's cheers for CM Punk after "The Cult Of Personality" walked out on the company? Do you think that Batista makes a good point in what he said? Or is he overreacting to the situation? Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
