Shrewsbury midfielder Craig Disley could be out for around eight weeks with a broken ankle.
Disley caught his ankle after going in for a challenge in the 1-1 draw at Rotherham on Monday night and X-ray results revealed he had suffered a break.
"It is a massive blow for Craig as he was just getting back into the side after a couple of other injuries," boss Paul Simpson told the club's official website.
"We are booking him in to see a specialist and once we have the results from that we will know the long-term implications."
Simpson added: "The X-rays revealed a break to the ankle and the early prognosis is that Craig will be missing for around eight weeks but until the swelling has gone down we won't know for sure."
Meanwhile, Shane Cansdell-Sherriff picked up his 10th booking of the season at the Don Valley Stadium and he now faces an automatic two-match ban.
Simpson said: "Shane picking up a 10th booking is another blow for us but we are lucky in that we have other players who can come into the squad."
