Leading scorer Lee Hughes will be one of three strikers to return to the Notts County squad for Steve Cotterill's first game as manager at home to Hereford.

The 23-goal forward missed the 1-1 draw with Aldershot through suspension and is expected to go straight back into the starting XI.

Ade Akinbiyi and Karl Hawley were also absent in Hampshire. Akinbiyi will be back in contention following a family matter while the midweek postponement of the trip to Darlington has allowed Hawley time to recover from a bout of flu.

Defender John Thompson will also return to captain the side after a thigh injury.

Cotterill became the club's third manager this season when he signed a deal until the end of the season on Tuesday.

Hereford boss John Trewick could hand a debut to new loan signing Daniel Preston.

The young Birmingham centre-back linked up with the Bulls during their training session on Friday morning.

Trewick made three changes to his starting XI on Tuesday in response to the last-gasp 4-3 defeat to Burton and duly saw his side go down 2-0 at home to Northampton.

He must now choose whether to keep faith with the same XI or mix things up yet again for what is certain to be a tough test at Meadow Lane in what is Steve Cotterill`s first game in charge.

Keith Lowe and Lee Morris came in for Sam Gwynne and Matt Done respectively against Northampton while Ryan Green replaced injured loanee Paul Downing but the West Brom defender is likely to return.

Jamie Tolley continues to work on a steady recovery from his shin problem and will miss out.
