Daggers extend Grimsby's misery: Match Review

Published Add your comment

Dagenham maintained their play-off push with a comfortable 2-0 victory and stretched relegation-haunted Grimsby's winless run to 25 games.

The Mariners have now not tasted victory since September 19, and they were undone when striker Josh Scott dived to head home Graeme Montgomery's inch-perfect cross, while Danny Green netted late on to seal the win.

The first half was a drab affair with Tommy Wright coming close for Grimsby, but his shot was blocked, while Town keeper Mark Oxley parried Marlon Pack's volley.

There were plenty of corners for Daggers, but they could not make the most of them, and it was Grimsby who had the best chance, but Lee Peacock planted his header over the bar.

After the break, the action improved and Daggers went ahead courtesy of Scott's header and they should have had a second but Pack's goalbound shot was blocked and Peter Gain curled the rebound over.

The Mariners rarely looked like getting back into the match, with Oliver Lancashire's header over the bar, their best chance.

Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro saw his shot deflected wide, before the game was over when Green slotted into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
