Ryan Harley turned from hero to villain for Exeter City as he missed a last minute penalty in a 1-1 draw with Oldham.

Harley had already converted one spot kick, but his second was poor and straight at Dean Brill who saved easily to secure a point for Oldham.

With both teams struggling at the wrong end of League One, it was always going to be a scrappy affair and so it proved with few chances in a drab first half.

The second half was little better, but Exeter went in front on the hour mark when Reuben Hazell was adjudged to have fouled Marcus Haber in the box and Harley coolly slotted in the penalty kick.

Oldham levelled nine minutes from time when Exeter failed to clear a corner kick and Sean Gregan lashed a shot at goal that ricocheted into the net.

Harley then had the chance to win it in the last minute after Neil Saunders won a second penalty for Exeter, but the midfielder's effort was tame and straight at Brill.
