Carew treble stuns Reading

Published Add your comment

John Carew scored a second-half hat-trick as Aston Villa staged a remarkable comeback to beat Reading 4-2 and book a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Martin O'Neill's side were poor in the opening 45 minutes at the Madejski Stadium and trailed 2-0 at the break thanks to a brace from Reading striker Shane Long.

But O'Neill recorded his first ever win in the month of March as Villa boss thanks to an amazing start to the second half as Ashley Young's strike and then Carew's treble denied Reading a first semi-final since 1927.
