Scunny skipper facing five-match ban

Scunthorpe will not appeal against Cliff Byrne's sending-off against Ipswich on Saturday.

The Iron captain saw red for the third time this season having body checked Jack Colback as he looked to run onto a through ball.

Manager Nigel Adkins initially insisted he would lodge an appeal, but a lack of video evidence has put paid to his hopes.

Byrne now faces a mammoth five-match suspension, starting at Newcastle on Wednesday night.
