It is the fight that all boxing fans want to see and Floyd Mayweather has had his say on the prospect of a massive heavyweight showdown between reigning world champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.

The retired five-division world champion believes, contrary to what many in America believe, Joshua holds all the cards in any negotiations between both camps.

The WBC champ Wilder has frequently claimed Joshua should come over to America to fight and that the purse should have an equal split, but Mayweather is not convinced this should be the case.

"I just truly believe that Anthony Joshua is the A-side, because he has a huge following," Mayweather told FightHype.

"He has a country behind him. Look at the numbers that he's getting. If the fight does happen, I think it can happen in the UK. I think it's bigger money in the UK. that's just my opinion."

As both men prepare for upcoming bouts early in 2018, Wilder against dangerous Cuban Luis Ortiz in March, and IBF, IBO, and WBA champ Joshua being lined up to face WBO belt holder Joseph Parker in the spring, both fights are seen by many as precursors to the main event - Joshua vs Wilder.

Although 'Money' Mayweather is impressed by Wilder's punching power, which recently produced a devastating first-round knockout of Bermane Stiverne, he is convinced that the British heavyweight would be an incredibly dangerous opponent for the American.

He continued: "I think everybody is overlooking Anthony Joshua. This is a guy that's a gold medalist. We look at Deontay Wilder's last fight and he went out there and done what the f*** he's supposed to do in great fashion, but we look at the guy that he fought - 6 feet, if that, 6 feet, 40 years old - you gotta realize Anthony Joshua showed a heart of a lion, got hit by one of the Klitschko, got right back up and kept fighting like a warrior.

"Joshua, he can give it and he can take it. It's a helluva fight. Anthony Joshua, he's a knockout artist. Deontay Wilder, he's a knockout artist."

Mayweather, regarded by many as one of the greatest boxers of all time, knows the game inside out and his analysis of any potential fight between these two is fascinating. It only serves to whet the appetite further for fight fans.
