The Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor boxing fight earlier this year was so successful that UFC President Dana White wants to do it again - but with a twist.

Instead of competing under boxing rules, White would like to get a deal done that would see "Money" fight inside of his UFC Octagon.

During the build-up to the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight Mayweather teased several times that he'd fight in the UFC next, and the Irishman welcomed that opportunity with open arms.

While most didn't take Mayweather seriously and simply believed it was a form of mind games from the undefeated boxing king, things really heated up when Mayweather broadcasted a live Periscope video in which he claimed he could go to the UFC and make a billion dollars for a few fights.

UFC President Dana White responded to these rumors by saying that they're possible and that the talks between the two sides are serious.

To make things even more confusing, Mayweather came out and said he was joking about the whole ordeal.

The awkward saga continues, as UFC President Dana White joined FS1's "Undisputed" to talk about possibly getting Mayweather in the Octagon.

White revealed that he actually has a meeting with Mayweather's team later on today (quotes via Boxing Scene):

“Don’t count anything out on Floyd Mayweather coming over to the UFC. Anything is possible,” White said on FOX Sports 1’s Undisputed.

“You guys know I didn’t believe that McGregor-Mayweather would happen and it did, so anything is possible. I have a meeting with [Floyd’s team] today.”

Aside from the controversy surrounding Mayweather in the UFC, Dana White is also interested in getting into the boxing game in 2018 and promoting boxing events. He has established Zuffa boxing and is very serious about the venture:

“I’m interested in getting into boxing in 2018. So we’ll see,” White said.

It should be interesting to see how successful White can be as a boxing promoter after all the success he has had in the MMA world.

What are your thoughts on White saying that he's meeting with Floyd Mayweather's team later on today? Do you think that a deal could be reached to put Mayweather inside the Octagon for a fight? And if so who would "Money" throw down with inside of the cage? Let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below!
