Almost two weeks ago, Dean Ambrose was written off Monday Night Raw and WWE television as he had suffered a legit arm injury that required surgery. WWE later revealed that the injury was a high-grade triceps tendon injury.

Michael Cole took a moment during the December 25 episode of Raw this week to confirm that The Lunatic Fringe will be out of action for approximately nine months, bringing an end to The Shield reunion and his tag team with Seth Rollins.

On the same night, Raw general manager Kurt Angle announced a new tag team partner for Rollins in his match against The Bar for the Raw Tag Team Championship, his storyline son, Jason Jordan.

It didn't take long for The Kingslayer and Jordan to form a strong tag team, as they managed to defeat Cesaro and Sheamus to become the new Raw Tag Team Championship. This also made Jordan the first superstar to win the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team titles.

However, Jordan wasn't the only superstar which WWE considered to be Rollins' partner once the company knew that Ambrose would be out of action for at least nine months.

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, via Inquisitr Finn Balor and Jordan were the top choices to be Rollins' tag team partner after Ambrose’s injury. WWE officials reportedly debated between Balor and Jordan for the position, but as we know, they ultimately went for the latter of the two.

It’s unclear why WWE officials gave the opportunity to Jordan instead of Balor, but this could be an indication that the company has big plans for The Demon King for WrestleMania, as they want to keep him in singles competition for WrestleMania season.

With the Royal Rumble Match just around the corner, we could see those plans come into effect for Balor really soon.
