Leicester could hand a debut to Jay Spearing when they host Reading.

The midfielder will go straight into the squad after joining on loan from Liverpool until the end of the season as the Foxes look to maintain their position in the top six of the Coca-Cola Championship.

Bruno Berner is set to miss the next few games after suffering a calf problem in the warm-up to Sunday's 2-2 draw with Coventry, so Ryan McGivern will again deputise at left-back.

Wayne Brown will be pushing for a starting role after coming off the bench to mark his return from a hamstring injury in that clash, while James Vaughan returns to contention after recovering from a hamstring problem and illness.

But Alex Bruce is five days to two weeks away from a return after undergoing keyhole surgery on his groin this week.

Star striker Matt Fryatt, who has been out of action since suffering a broken jaw against Doncaster last month, stepped up his recovery by returning to light training on Monday and has a slight chance of featuring before the end of the campaign.

Reading have a doubt over Ivar Ingimarsson.

The Royals skipper sustained a hamstring injury in stoppage time of Saturday's 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough.

Zurab Khizanishvili looks set to replace Ingimarsson in the starting line-up, with Matt Mills the most likely candidate to take over the captains armband.

Kalifa Cisse is still building up his fitness following a thigh problem and is unlikely to figure, while Jem Karacan (hand), Noel Hunt and Chris Armstrong (both knee) remain on the sidelines.

The Royals are unbeaten in their last five league games a late play-off push is not yet beyond them as they continue their revival under manager Brian McDermott.
