Southend have confirmed winger Damian Scannell will be out for the rest of the season after suffering a broken metatarsal in Tuesday night's victory against Walsall.
The 24-year-old limped off after 64 minutes of the Shrimpers' 3-0 victory at Roots Hall and is now facing six to eight weeks on the sidelines.
United physio John Stannard told Southend's official website: "Damian won`t require surgery. It's not displaced and will heal on its own given time but unfortunately it looks like he won't play again this season. The doctor has put him in a walking boot and it's a case of him now just waiting for his body to repair."
