Just when things seemed to be going well for WWE after the reunion of The Shield, things have hit an unexpected speed bump for the trio - essentially ending their run.

Dean Ambrose suffered an unfortunate bicep injury that would force him out-of-action for up to nine months, ending WWE's plans to do a Shield Reunion tour at WWE live events moving forward into WrestleMania 34.

Ambrose's injury forced changes to several WWE storylines as well, including he and Rollins' RAW Tag Team Title feud with The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro). This isn't the first time that the Shield Reunion tour has been planned to happen, however.

Originally it was supposed to happen late last year, but unfortunately Roman Reigns caught a viral outbreak of the mumps backstage and was sidelined for several weeks.

WWE wanted to get a Shield Reunion tour going to help get Reigns over with fans before WrestleMania 34.

Reigns is currently penciled in to take on Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship in the main event of the show, in what is expected to be a 'passing of the torch' scenario when "The Big Dog" become the one to dethrone "The Beast."

With Ambrose now being out for nine months and set to miss WrestleMania, by the time he returns Reigns will already be Universal Champion. Thus a Shield Reunion tour won't make much sense once "The Lunatic Fringe" is back at 100 percent.

It looks like WWE will have to find a different way to get "The Big Dog" over before his match with Lesnar. For whatever reason, fans give Reigns a mixed reaction in whatever arena he comes out to.

Half of the crowd cheers for Reigns while the other half boos him profusely. His reaction is similar to that of John Cena for the past several years.

Despite the reactions he gets, WWE seems dead set on having him be the new face of the company.

What are your thoughts on Ambrose's injury affecting Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34? Do you think that a Shield Reunion tour would've helped how over Reigns was heading into WrestleMania? Or would fans still continue to boo him for whatever reason come time for "The Show Of Shows?" Have YOUR say in the comments section below, and the fourth episode of GiveMeSport’s WWE podcast is here!
