The first Monday Night Raw of 2018 didn't exactly start off the new year with a bang, but it had plenty of moments to leave WWE fans talking for the next week, as well as setting the gears in motion for the Royal Rumble at the end of the month.More build and participants were announced for the Men's and Women's Royal Rumble matches which will take place at the Royal Rumble on January 28 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, with Finn Balor, Sasha Banks, Paige, Bayley, Sonya Deville, and Mandy Rose confirming their spots for their respective Rumble matches. As well as the Royal Rumble matches, WWE built up their triple threat match for the Universal Championship as well between Brock Lesnar, Kane, and Braun Strowman in the main event of Raw, and this rolled on as the show went off the air this week. After a promo by Paul Heyman with Lesnar in the middle of the ring, Kane came down and Chokeslammed The Beast, only for Lesnar to pop straight back up moments later as The Big Red Machine made his way out of the ring.Just as Kane was about to re-enter the ring, Lesnar stood up and attacked him with the title, sending them both over the top rope. The two were then separated by superstars with The Beast standing with his Universal Championship in the air to end the show. After Raw had gone off the air though, Strowman made his way down to the ring and said he still wanted to fight, calling out Kane in the process. The Big Red Machine returned, with the two having a brawl before he then worked The Monster Among Men over with a chair and setted up a table. As you can see in the video below, Strowman was able to escape a Chokeslam and then grab Kane and Powerslam him through the table to end the show and send the WWE fans who attended Raw at the American Airlines Arena last night home happy.

Strowman, Kane, and Lesnar will all be on Raw next week when it rolls into the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee to continue the build for their triple threat Universal Championship match at the Royal Rumble at the end of the month.
