The Toronto Raptors managed to outlast the Milwaukee Bucks in an entertaining 131-127 overtime win at Air Canada Centre on Monday night thanks to a stunning performance from DeMar DeRozan. The three-time All-Star went off for a career-high 52 points as he torched the Bucks with a terrific offensive display shooting 17-of-29 from the field, 5-of-9 from three-point range and a perfect 13-of-13 at the foul line.In the process, DeRozan also made Raptors franchise history as he scored the most points in a single game, surpassing the previous best set by both Vince Carter and Terrence Ross who put up 51.The shooting guard also became the first player in NBA history to post a 50-point game on New Year's Day.Speaking after the game, the 28-year-old explained where he may have drawn his inspiration from as he said he'd spent time earlier in the day watching clips of Michael Jordan in the 1998 NBA Finals, as he inspired the Chicago Bulls to their sixth title in eight seasons."I remember being a kid and wishing to be in moments like that," DeRozan said, per ESPN. "When you come out here and you're in those moments, you've got to make the best out of them."

Teammate Jonas Valanciunas hilariously interrupted his post-game interview by standing behind him and holding up a handwritten sign with the number 52.

It's the second time already this season that DeRozan has beaten his personal best after he poured in 45 points in a road win over the Philadelphia 76ers last month.

"He was playing with a lot of juice," Raptors coach Dwane Casey said. "You could see the bounce in his step. Tonight, DeMar DeRozan played like a superstar."

He scored 21 points in the first quarter and set the tone early for what proved to be a historic night.

The All-NBA guard has expanded his game to three-point territory and it's taken his offense to a devastating new level.

"He's dangerous any time he puts on a uniform," Bucks coach Jason Kidd said. "Now to be able to expand his range out to the three-point line just makes the game easier for him."

As well as putting the ball in the basket, the Raptors star had a balanced game as he also added eight assists, five rebounds, a steal and a block.

The Los Angeles native is having another impressive season as he's averaging 24.9 points, 4.9 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game but continues to fly slightly under the radar and doesn't always get the credit he deserves.

Performances like this provide a reminder to everybody that he is certainly one of the best players in the league.
