Lokomotiv Moscow say they have not given up on signing Roman Pavlyuchenko from Tottenham – but they won’t be held to ransom.

The Russian striker’s stock has risen once again in recent weeks and is goals have made him an important member of Harry Redknapp’s side chasing FA Cup glory and a Champions League place.

The 28-year-old nearly moved back to Russia in January and a move in the summer could be in the cards, but Nikolai Naumov, Lokomotiv president, said: “If the price is, say, £20million then we just won’t buy.

“But we will definitely return to the question of buying Pavlyuchenko in the summer. Let’s see what the situation is then at Tottenham, Lokomotiv and with the life of the footballer.’

Adriano

Harry Redknapp could be pre-empting Pavlyuchenko’s departure by, reportedly, showing an interest in Flamengo’s former Inter Milan striker Adriano.

The Brazilian’s agent admitted a return to Italy does not interest the temperamental forward who will decide on his future after the World Cup.

Spurs and West Ham are currently the likely front runners if the Brazilian became available, and Adriano’s agent Gilmar Rinaldi said: “The rumours that spread in Italy have given him trouble, these stories do not interest him.

"With Flamengo, he is playing well, he scored two goals both yesterday and on Sunday. His future? He would like to return to Europe, before there was talk about December. For now, I have had no news. We will decide after the World Cup."
