Bury have signed rookie Manchester City midfielder James Poole ahead of the visit of Aldershot.
Poole, a regular goalscorer for City's reserve side, will go straight into the Shakers' squad after agreeing a loan until the end of the season.
Efe Sodje is sidelined for two weeks with a leg injury but fellow defender Paul Scott is in contention for a start after returning to full training late last week following a knee injury.
Striker Danny Carlton is still recovering from a long-term Achilles injury and midfielder Damien Allen remains sidelined with a groin problem.
Leading scorer Ryan Lowe serves the second game of his three-match suspension.
The Shakers' hopes of going up automatically have been hit by a dismal six-match winless streak in which they have scored only one goal.
Aldershot manager Kevin Dillon will include new signing Dean Morgan for the trip to Gigg Lane.
Morgan, who can operate as a winger or a striker, joined the Shots on loan from MK Dons on Thursday and comes into contention for the clash.
Dillon could also be boosted by the return of Dave Winfield and Andy Sandell.
Centre-half Winfield has sat out the last four games with a hamstring injury while left-back Sandell has missed three with his own hamstring problem, but the duo are both back in contention as the Shots look for a third-straight win which could move them into the top seven.
Winfield is likely to have to make do with a place on the bench but Sandell could return and end Anthony Charles' run as a makeshift full-back.
Former Reading midfielder John Halls is unlikely to feature again this season after complications hampered his recovery from groin surgery but Dillon has no other worries.
