Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has wound up Liverpool fans on social media over the last few months regarding the Reds pursuit of Virgil van Dijk - and now he's having a bit of fun over the Philippe Coutinho saga. After failing to secure his signing in the summer, Jurgen Klopp finally landed the Dutch defender last week in a club record £75m transfer."He is on fire," said Klopp. "He really wants (to play), but we have to make sure he can perform.“Centre-half is a position which depends on the others in the pitch. That means you have to tune it so you work together.“After Friday, we have a little bit more time. It is a long-time project. It is not important when his first game (is) but how many good games (he has).”Meanwhile, Coutinho is trying to force his way out the club amidst renewed interest from Barcelona.Like Van Dijk, the 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder handed in a transfer request during the summer transfer window and is reportedly also hoping to complete his move in January.Le Tissier, 49, weighed in on the Coutinho saga and suggested that "Liverpool should do right by him and let him have his dream move."Possibly with a hint of irony, a Liverpool fan responded to Le Tissier's tweet and told him that he has no right to comment on Barcelona's tapping up of Coutinho. The retired Premier League legend famously spent his whole career at Southampton.

On Thursday, Klopp was asked in his pre-match press conference to discuss the possibility of Coutinho leaving in the January transfer window.

"All the things I could say now would just create stories, so I have nothing to say about it," Klopp told reporters.

"It’s the transfer window, that’s all. There’s nothing I could say that would help me, the player or the club."

Coutinho was ruled out of Friday night's FA Cup third round fixture against Everton but is expected to be fit for when Liverpool host Manchester City in the Premier League next weekend.
