Norwich substitute Chris Martin came off the bench to score a late winner in League One's top of the table showdown - and take his side to within touching distance of promotion.
The young striker headed home a perfect right-wing cross from Stephen Hughes in the 89th minute to condemn nearest rivals Leeds to a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat and leave the Canaries 11 points clear with just eight games to play.
To complete a desperate finale for the visitors, substitute Tresor Kandol was sent off for an off-the-ball incident in injury time just seconds after coming on as a substitute.
Leeds were dealt an early blow when Luciano Becchio received an accidental kick in the face from Michael Nelson as he went for a header.
The game was held up for four minutes while the striker received treatment before being replaced by Mike Grella and the game took time to gather momentum in a tense first half.
Leeds were marginally the better side without creating a worthwhile chance and it was a similar story in a disjointed second period, with Grella wasting the visitors' best chance when he shot tamely at the keeper after working himself some space in the area.
Norwich barely threatened either, although they were on the front foot as the game entered its final stages and were rewarded when substitutes Martin and Hughes combined to send the vast majority of Carrow Road wild with delight.
