Liverpool are in quite a strange scenario right now.

The club completed the £75m signing of Virgil van Dijk from Southampton, a statement of serious intent from Jurgen Klopp's side, with their defence in desperate need of high-quality reinforcements.

But the club were brought back down to reality a few days later, with rumours resurfacing from the summer linking Philippe Coutinho with a stunning £150m move to Barcelona.

Safe to say that losing the Brazilian maestro will set the club back a tad, but with the huge fee they are likely to receive for his services, they have the potential to invest in some key areas in their squad.

One area that will need a lot of attention is in goal, with both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius flattering to deceive during Klopp's reign.

Well, Liverpool fans may have their prayers answered if Coutinho is offloaded soon, with a three-man shortlist being drafted up by the club, according to the Independent.

Safe to say, any of the trio would be a huge upgrade.

1. JAN OBLAK - ATLETICO MADRID

Their main target is Atleti's Slovenian wall, with the former Benfica man recognised as one of the finest in the game right now.

However, he will certainly not come cheap, with Oblak having a £100m buyout clause in his contract.

Diego Simeone will not want to sell, so Liverpool will have to fork out what would be nearly triple the world record fee for a keeper to get him.

2. ALISSON - ROMA

Amazingly, the Brazilian shot-stopper form Serie A is actually keeping Manchester City's Ederson out of the national team starting XI.

The Roma man would probably be a far cheaper option and would certainly bring some much needed class to the department.

Just ask Chelsea fans, as they saw his talent in the Champions League group stage.

3. JACK BUTLAND - STOKE CITY

Surely the Potters man needs to be at a big club? Particularly after how bad of a season Mark Hughes' side have had, with Butland one of their saving graces.

Again, the England international would be far cheaper than Oblak and could provide a similar service.
