What a year 2018 promises to be for the world of boxing and David Haye will be at the centre of it all.His rematch with Tony Bellew, that will take place in early May, isn't exactly the most important bout of the year but few match-ups boast such a rivalry. Tension between the two has simmered down since their original clash yet Haye is hungry for revenge.Injury conspired against the returning 'Hayemaker' in March as an Achilles knock in the sixth round gave Bellew the advantage at the O2 Arena. The Evertonian, a massive underdog going into the fight, took the initiative five rounds later and knocked out his compatriot who was left tangled and crocked in the ropes. The pure entertainment of it all necessitated a rematch, which was initially scheduled for December only for Haye's injury curse to sneak up on him once again.

David Haye updates the fans

Haye tore his bicep after falling down a flight of stairs in training yet will still get a second chance at the 'Bomber' who failed to agree replacement bouts with Dillian Whyte and Joseph Parker.

Credit to the 37-year-old, though - he is well and truly back in training for the fight and has provided his fans with a series of updates on social media.

His latest post was arguably the most positive of all. Haye provided a 'six weeks operation update' from a tennis court in Jamaica where he reassured fans that the tissue was healing and that he was already curling 25 pounds.

He proceeded to show off his freedom of arm extension and even promised that, in a month's time, he'll be back to punching 'full throttle.'

Bill Joe Saunders responds perfectly

Positive stuff, for sure but a certain Billy Joe Saunders was keen to rain on Haye's parade with a cheeky comment that resonates both for its savagery and insight.

The WBO middleweight champion penned: "David do you think you hold up 12 rounds with two bad Injuries ???"

It's hard to see Saunders genuinely enquiring and when you consider the fight is only five months away, you've got to worry for the injury riddled and ageing Haye.

Besides, Saunders won't be the only fighter to fear for Haye and his fitness in the ring against Bellew.

That being said, the 28-year-old has matters of his own to attend to, namely his planned fights with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

After dancing his way around the haymakers of David Lemieux and drawing comparisons to Floyd Mayweather, though, anything can happen and that includes Haye stay fitting.
