It’s just a matter of time before Philippe Coutinho is officially confirmed as a Barcelona player.Reports broke on Saturday evening suggesting that Barcelona have agreed a £142 million deal with Liverpool for the Brazilian and he is already on his way to the Camp Nou.The saga is finally over. But it’s fair to say Liverpool fans aren’t happy. With Jurgen Klopp’s side sitting fourth in the Premier League, in the knockout stages of the Champions League and through to the fourth round of the FA Cup, there is plenty of play for in the remainder of the campaign. But they will have to do it without their star man after deciding to sell him halfway through the season. While Liverpool supporters are questioning the club’s decision, they are also questioning Coutinho’s attitude. Not his desire to move to Barca, but the way in which he’s forced the move. After all, he handed in a transfer request on the eve of the Premier League season, refused to play in the Champions League qualifiers, and claimed he was injured whilst the summer transfer window was open. And, as soon as the January transfer window opened, Coutinho declared himself injured once again. With Liverpool having so much to play for and Barcelona already having one hand on the La Liga trophy - not to mention he will be cup-tied for the Champions League - many Kopites will wonder why a deal for the summer couldn’t be agreed and why Coutinho couldn't remain patient. But that's not the view of everyone associated with Liverpool.

RIISE'S TWEET TO COUTINHO

Instead of being angry, former player John Arne Riise decided to pay tribute to Coutinho.

After hearing the news, Riise tweeted: “Good luck @Phil_Coutinho and thank you for all the memories! You were fantastic for our club. Some amazing goals and assists.”

But it’s fair to say many Liverpool fans weren’t impressed with Riise’s tribute.

They bombard Riise’s replies believing that no Liverpool fan should be thanking Coutinho right now.

LIVERPOOL FANS REACT ANGRILY

Check out the reaction:

In a few years’ time, Liverpool fans will probably think fondly of Coutinho’s time at the club. The Brazilian is likely to enhance his career at Barcelona, competing for La Liga titles and Champions Leagues on a yearly basis.

While you can’t really begrudge him for wanting the move, it’s probably a bit soon to start paying tribute to a player that has forced a mid-season transfer.
