When it comes to Jayson Tatum's amazing plays on the court, nobody is safe, not even his own Boston Celtics' teammates, and this was shown during his team's game against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday. The Celtics achieved a narrow 87-85 win against the Nets last night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, with Kyrie Irving being the best performer on the night with 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, and one block after just under 39 minutes of play.Tatum had a good game for Boston as well, which included two impressive slam dunks, with one of them as well being over his own teammate in Aron Baynes. With seven-and-a-half minutes to go in the third quarter, the Celtics rookie drove the ball towards the basket to score and keep his team in close on the scoreboard to the Nets, who were ahead at the time. However, as you can see in the video below, Tatum doesn't care who's in front of him when he's coming down the lane, as he performed the slam dunk over his teammate Baynes. He even knocked his teammate a little bit back as well, but both were fine since the play kept them in the game.
Later in the fourth quarter, Tatum would score the decisive basket in the game that helped the Celtics win against the Nets, as he performed another slam dunk with just over a minute to go in the game to give Boston the lead.
The Celtics rookie finished the game with a stat line of 14 points, six rebounds, three steals, and six blocks. The last teenage rookie to achieve three steals and six blocks in a game was Kevin Garnett, so this is quite some company to be in and it shows he has a lot of promise for the future.
With all this in mind, it's no surprise that Tatum is one of the frontrunners for the NBA Rookie of the Season award this year.
Boston won't be playing another game now until they travel to London to play against the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday next week.
