It's been a while since we've seen Conor McGregor fight inside of the UFC's Octagon, and with the demand for him in the world of boxing as well, it may be even longer.

"The Notorious One" hasn't competed for the UFC since November of 2016 when he defeated Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title in the main event of UFC 205 from Madison Square Garden, where he became the first dual-weight champion in the promotion's history.

When he said he would take some time off to enjoy the birth of his first son, just several months later he signed on to do a massive exhibition boxing bout against the all consensus greatest of all time in Floyd Mayweather.

The bout took place this past August and McGregor suffered a 10th round TKO loss after exhausting himself in the early round and being unable to respond to a barrage of shots from "Money."

Now with White giving McGregor until March to fight for the UFC again before being stripped of his title, fans are beginning to wonder where McGregor will fight next - if he even ever does.

His head coach, John Kavanagh, recently spoke to BBC Sport to talk about his star fighter's future, and revealed he'll be pushing for McGregor to do a UFC fight next (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“I’m just happy to see him back, just regular training,” said Kavanagh. “He had a lot going on in his life.

"A lot of stuff outside of fighting was going on in his life and he seems to be getting the hang of all that.

"Now he’s back training almost every day now and I think 2018 will be another big year for us. Exactly what that is, I don’t know yet, but the plan is forming. Stay tuned.

“You want to know my opinion?” said Kavanagh. “I’ll be pushing very hard for MMA.

"The boxing was a nice detour from what we’ve done but mixed martial arts is my passion so if I have anything to do with it, he’ll be in the octagon this year.”

What are your thoughts on Kavanagh saying that he's pushing for McGregor to fight in the UFC next? Where do you think "The Notorious One" will end up fighting next? Which do you prefer?
