WWE Superstar Samoa Joe has suffered an injury and as a result, WWE has had to make some changes to their plans.

WWE Hall of Famer and current WWE Raw General Manager Kurt Angle announced on Monday morning via his official Twitter account that Joe had won the fan voting to team with Bayley in the Mixed Match Challenge series that is set to air on Facebook.

However, due to an injury on Raw, Joe would be unavailable to compete. Angle wrote the following:

“Thank you all for voting for @itsBayleyWWE partner in #WWEMMC, but due to an injury suffered on #Raw @SamoaJoe is unable to compete....therefore the runner-up @IAmEliasWWE will be Bayley’s partner. #WWEMMC.”

Thus, Elias will be teaming with Bayley for the upcoming series. PWinsider.com has been able to confirm that this is not a work and Joe is legitimately injured.

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Memphis, TN at the FedExForum on the USA Network, Joe defeated Rhyno in a singles match.

It was a short match as it clocked in at two minutes and forty-four seconds. He cut a promo after the match and seemed fine. To say the least, this is horrible timing.

For several years, fans wanted to see Joe sign with WWE following his success in Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor. Finally, he signed with the company in 2015.

However, instead of being placed on the main roster right away like many fans thought would happen, WWE decided to place him in NXT.

He was in NXT for nearly two years. He was later called up to the main roster. On the January 30, 2017, episode of Raw, Joe made his official main roster debut by attacking Seth Rollins from behind and aligning himself with Triple H.

If you recall, Joe suffered a knee injury in late August, which has forced him from competing. The former NXT Champion has since missed several events and was been pulled from WWE television.

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on the seriousness of the injury or how long he will be able out action.
