Max Holloway has now established himself as one of the most dominant UFC champions in the promotion today, and his next featherweight title defense is now set.

It has been announced that "The Blessed One" will meet former UFC lightweight champion and two-time featherweight title challenger Frankie Edgar at UFC 222 from the T-Mobile Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 3, 2018.

Originally the pair were set to meet at UFC 218 last year, however, Edgar suffered an injury in training camp and was instead replaced by Jose Aldo. Holloway again defeated Aldo in their rematch and strengthened his title reign with the victory even more.

It was Holloway's 12th consecutive victory of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, not having lost to an opponent since his match-up with current 155-pound champion Conor McGregor back in 2013. He lost that fight via unanimous decision even after McGregor tore his ACL in the second round.

Edgar is 7-2 since dropping down from his former championship weight of 155 pounds. Both of those losses come via decision and both come to the same man - Jose Aldo.

If you're a fan of MMA math than you like Holloway's chances against Edgar, as he owns two wins over the only man to beat him at featherweight.

While Edgar was never able to get past Aldo, he does own wins over the likes of Chad Mendes, Yair Rodriguez, and Jeremy Stephens in his featherweight career.

Edgar is a great wrestler with a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and would definitely have the advantage if he's able to get the fight to the ground. While Edgar is a phenomenal boxer it's Holloway who's striking has been turning heads as of late.

The match-up will prove to be quite an interesting one and has the potential to be one of the best fights of the year. It's a rarity that you get to see the two very best fighters in a respective weight class go one-on-one with each other inside the Octagon.

What are your thoughts on Holloway defending his UFC featherweight crown against Frankie Edgar next? How do you feel the match-up will go for the two fighters? And who do you think will emerge victorious when it's all said and done? Let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below!
