When the Washington Wizards re-signed Bradley Beal to a huge five-year, $128 million extension in the summer of 2016, there were some who questioned their decision to splash out on a player who had yet to prove himself.Up until that point, Beal's career had been hampered by injuries as he struggled to stay on the court for an entire campaign during his first four years in the NBA.But the franchise's big outlay was justified after the shooting guard got himself healthy and went on to have a career year last season, emerging as one of the best players in his position. You can vote for your favourite players as NBA All-Stars every day HERE. Voting closes on January 15th.The Wizards star averaged a career-high 23.1 points per game and was also huge in the playoffs as he posted 24.8 ppg as they reached the second round. This year, the 24-year-old has continued to elevate his game and has become a leading figure for the Wizards. With backcourt partner John Wall battling injuries for much of the campaign, Beal has had to take on more of the load and has done so impressively. He notched a 51-point game in a win over the Portland Trail Blazers last month in the absence of Wall and is averaging a career-high 23.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.2 steals a night. With those numbers, the Florida product has a great chance to earn his first All-Star nod in Los Angeles next month.Several members of the Wizards organisation are campaigning for him to be selected and Wall believes his performances on the court prove that his time has finally come.

“He’s been the MVP of our team," Wall said, per the Washington Post. "One of four guys to have a 50-point game. He’s been leading us through ups and downs when I was injured, when (Markieff Morris) was injured, when Otto (Porter) was out.

"Even when us guys was back, he was still leading our team and leading our team in scoring. But just doing so much more for our team.

“I think it should be an automatic lock for him to be an All-Star. … I think he deserves it. I think he deserved it last year, and he got snubbed, and sometimes that happens in this league. And I feel like this year there’s no way he could be snubbed, at all.”

It's not just his teammates that think he should earn his first selection, Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside also tweeted that Beal deserves to be there.

He's getting recognition across the league and after overcoming his injury problems, he's finally letting his talent do the talking on the floor and should be rewarded for it.
