Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is considered by many to be one of the finest players in world football.

The 26-year-old Belgian has been the standout performer in City's incredible first half of the 2017/18 campaign.

"Kevin is one of the best players I've ever seen in my life in terms of how he can make absolutely everything [happen]," said Pep Guardiola earlier this season.

"He's a top, top quality player. We are so proud and so happy he's with us."

Incredibly, De Bruyne was deemed not good enough to make the cut at Chelsea by Jose Mourinho and was sold to Wolfsburg for £18m in 2014.

Manchester City made the Bundesliga star their club record signing in 2015 when they splashed out £55m to bring him back to the Premier League.

He's proven that he's worth every penny during his two-and-a-half year spell at the Etihad.

Old KdB interview surfaces

De Bruyne was at Belgian club Gent for six years as a youngster before joining the Genk youth academy in 2005.

He left Gent at the age of 14 but an old interview has surfaced in which he revealed his favourite Premier League team and player.

"My favourite team is Liverpool," said a young De Bruyne. "My favourite player is Michael Owen and I would like to play there [at Liverpool]."

You can watch the interview in the video below - it's also worth watching the brilliant goals he scored in the Cup final.

De Bruyne scored in Tuesday night's 2-1 Carabao Cup semi-final win over Bristol City and believes Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez could bolster Guardiola's squad.

"If he [Sanchez] comes, he will add something to the team," said the Belgium playmaker.

"He is a very good player," added the 26-year-old. "Obviously we will see what happens."

Sanchez, who almost joined Man City in the summer, has only six months remaining on his current deal in north London.

Hoping to secure his signing in January, it's understood that Arsenal have received a £20m bid from City.

It will mean even more competition for the likes of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus.
