In either of the top two female weight classes in the UFC you have a pair of vicious knockout artists unlike anything we've ever seen in women's mixed martial arts (MMA).
At bantamweight we have Amanda Nunes, who's knockout power has led to the downfall of women such as Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, and so many more. She is recognized as one of the most feared strikers in women's MMA.
One weight class above Nunes is featherweight champion Cris Cyborg. The Brazilian's knockout power has downed most who have shared the Octagon with her, but in her most recent fight with former 135-pound champion Holly Holm, Cyborg proved she's an exceptionally terrific technical fighter as well.
During a recent edition of The Morning Wood Show hosted by UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and former UFC featherweight Din Thomas, Thomas revealed he recently had a conversation with Nunes about possibly fighting Cyborg.
Nunes reportedly said that she has no issues fighting her fellow Brazilian as she doesn't think she presents any real threat to her (quotes via MMA Fighting):
“For the longest time, everybody’s been saying that Amanda didn’t want to fight Cyborg,” said Thomas.
“I don’t really know how that rumor got started but everybody thought that, but I was hanging out with Amanda two weeks ago and I was at her crib and she was like, ‘Hey, I want to fight Cyborg. I hope she wins.’
“It wasn’t on no beef, she was just like, ‘I want to fight whoever wins.’ I was like, ‘You want to fight Cyborg?’ and she said, ‘Yeah I want to fight Cyborg.
"I don’t see what the threat is.’ That’s what she was telling me.
“For her to want that fight, I was like, hell yeah, let’s get this fight. She doesn’t see the threat that everybody thought was there for her.
"She doesn’t see it and I love that about Amanda when it comes to this fight. I think she presents way more problems than people think that she can give Cyborg.”
